Did the English painter, John Opie, paint a portrait of Lady Kay (a portrait also known as "A Lady of Quality")? If so, when was it painted? Is it listed in his catalog of works? Who was Lady Kay and how did he happen to paint her (was she a friend or a stranger whom he happened to be commissioned to paint)? Is the painting a 3/4 length portrait of a seated youngish woman with a lace kerchief and brown hair, and with her face resting against her hand, with brown being the dominant color scheme? | |

I could not find anything on the internet. Perhaps you may have to find a library with the following: "Opie and his works: Being a catalogue of 760 pictures by John Opie, R.A., preceded by a biographical sketch (Unknown Binding)" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00085X9DC/amzna9-1-20/ref=nosim/103-7556869-3418260?dev-t=D26XECQVNV6NDQ%26camp=2025%26link_code=xm2 answerfinder-ga |
