Question ID: 571059
How can by wife and I find a guesthouse to rent within walking
distance of UCLA's law school (405 Hilgard Ave, Los Angeles, CA)?
We'd prefer something north of Wilshire Blvd., west of N./S. Beverly
Glen, and east of the 405. We are willing to pay full rent, or, if
requested by landlord, other types of services in place of
partial/full rent (e.g. gardening, care for elderly family member,
tutoring, house sitting, etc.). I have steady income and an MBA, she
has an MA and is planning to attend law school in fall 2006... so we
need to be moved by then. What are our options?

Hello twenty2er-ga,

What do you mean by "guesthouse"? From the description in your
question it sounds like you're looking for a single family home to
rent. Is this correct? What is your budget? How long a lease are you
willing to sign? On the other hand, since you're talking about
offering services in lieu of payment, you might be looking for a share
rental. Please clarify. Here's a link to help you get oriented to the
UCLA housing services and descriptions of the neighborhood.

Have you checked out this web site?

http://www.cho.ucla.edu/

you can also do a search for a relocation firm, frequently they have
listings or know agents that have rental listings

My wife sometimes works for extended periods in other cities-- two or
three months at a time-- and I've used Craigslist.com to find places.
Honolulu, Palm Beach, San Diego and Seattle were all places I got
delightful apartments reasonably priced on month-to-month agreements.
