Question ID: 571226
I need to know some information regarding BBC's hit comedy Absolutely
Fabulous starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley. As far as I
know there have been 5 seasons (series) of the show and various
specials and perhaps a movie called Absolutely Fabulous in New York
City(?). I would like a list of each season detailing each episode
title (no episode descriptions really necessary), and a list of all of
the specials and movie if it exists. Please also find out what the
current status of the show is and if there will be any more seasons or
specials. Additionally but not necessarily, please provide me with the
absolute (and fabulous) cheapest location where I can buy these
online.

I appreciate the help!

To breifly summarize the answer to your question

Absolutely fabulous debuted in 1992

1992 - SEASON 1 (6 episodes)
1994 - SEASON 2 (6 episodes)
1995 - SEASON 3 (6 episodes)

~six year hiatus or "holiday" if you prefer~

2001 - SEASON 4 (6 episodes)
2003 - SEASON 5 (7 episodes)

You were informed correctly, there are only five seasons to date.

In addition to the regular season episodes there have been three specials....

And one BBC special entitled "The Story of Absolutely Fabulous."
"Featuring behind-the-scenes footage and drunken outtakes"

I gathered all of the information from the official BBC website, linked here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/abfab/vault/index.shtml

I checked with other sites, mainly just to verify the information, but
the BBC by far has the best browsable index
complete with episode summary, broadcast dates, pictures and sample quotes.

As for your query about a movie

There is a DVD release...

Absolutely Fabulous - Absolutely Special (The Last Shout/In New York)
But this is no movie, merely a packaged version of two of their "specials"
"The Last Shout" was broadcast in 1996 with the intention to be the
absolutely last ever episode
"In New York" was broadcast in 2003 and is also commonly known as the special "Gay"

As for the future of ABFAB, according to this website, the show has none.

It seems Jennifer wants to give up acting and focus her energies on
writing/directing.

I don't know how much you're willing to spend, but I found this listing on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/absolutely-fabulous-1-2-3-4-5-specials-9-dvds-new_W0QQitemZ6435599748QQcategoryZ617QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It offers all five seasons, and the (last shout/in new york) release
for $90.00 + $15.00 = $105.00
After looking at a few other places, it's pretty clear that you'll be
hard pressed to find a better deal than that

Hope that helped,
regards,
