I am seeking those projects that have shown New York City to be a star
innovator in application of energy (for a Feb. meeting of the NY
Chapter of Association of Energy Engineers). For instance, there are
(1)Fulton's application of steam power to a marine vessel, i.e, the
steamboat, (2)electric street lighting by Thomas Edison, (3)application of
district steam (from Con Edison) to the new Carrier absorption chiller
post WW II, (4)establishment of the New York Power Pool, etc.

Dick,

You seem to have gotten a pretty good list in the comments section,
below. Since the list was not posted by a Google Answers researcher,
thre is no charge for the information.

Is there anything else you need at this point from one of the GA researchers?

If so, let us know how we can help.

From my own list (which others had helped me with) and the comments
posted, I believe I can complete the research, but can use help in
fleshing out each of the items. What, when, how, who was responsible
for each of the energy application advances and who might be available
to join me at the podium in Manhattan in February to help present the
item(s). Chances are that the latter would be an academic, but also
could be an historian on some corporate payroll.

8. Res. Efficiency Example: The "Solaire" is billed as the world's
first Green Residence highrise. It incorporates solar pannels, an
energy management system and other efficiency technologies.

9. Commercial Efficiency Example: Four Times Square has a myriad of
new energy saving technologies, including: Two 200-kW fuel cells w/
waste heat recovery, photovoltaic panels and energy efficiency
lighting.

10. Gov Efficiency Example: New high-efficiency lighting systems in
more than 150 City public schools, installed at a cost of $42 million,
