Question ID: 571842
I ran across a website, www.allofmp3.com, which sells music for
download. The prices are significantly cheaper than most music
downloading sites (MSN, Walmart, iTunes, etc.) I am trying to find out
if the site is legal for United States customers, as the website is
based in Russia.

I tried to find the answer myself by doing a search, but the answers
were very fuzzy. Some websites said it was legal, and some said it was
"probable not" legal for US residents to download music from the site.

Can you please find a conclusive, sure answer to if this site is legal
for United States customers? Thanks!

This is about as conclusive as it gets. If it meets your requirements,
let me know via a clarification and I'll post it as the official
"Answer."

According to this list, allofmp3 is NOT an authorized source of online music.

I have seen the RIAA's list of authorized music, but from what I
understand, that list is not all-inclusive, especially for foreign
retailers. Thanks for your help, but it does not answer my question.

I don't think there is a more conclusive answer than "probably not,"
so unless you want to risk your freedom from prosecution on an obscure
point of international copyright law, it would be wise to stay away
from this service.

I found this article credible:
