I'm trying to find a distriubutor of refurbished electronics for brand
name electronic manufactures. I'm not looking for a retail or web
site outlet but specifcally a distributor that manufacturers use to
sell their refurbished electronics though.

Please define what you mean by "electronics" - for instance, I have
located this but not sure if this is the type of electronics to which
you refer:

Digital cameras, pda, laptops, computers, etc. When a retail
electronic store (ie Best Buy, Staples, etc.) takes a return item from
a consumer within the 30 day exchange period the retail store can't
restock the item but must sent it back to the manufacturer. The
manufacture can then resell it as "refurbished". Most manufacturers
don't typically sell direct to retail stores. They use distribution
companies instead who in turn sell to retail stores, web site stores.
We're trying to locate a distributor as we are thinking of going into
the retail business to sell "refurbished" electronics.

Here are a pair of companies that do refurbishment work for consumer
and personal computer electronics manufacturers:

Datatech Depot, Anaheim, CA (800) 888-8181
www.datatech-depot.com
Datatech Depot does repair/refurb work for Acer, Fujitsu, Okidata and
Zenith, among others.

National Repair Center, Inc., Spokane, WA (509) 789-2106
www.nrcinc.com
NRC specializes more in point-of-sale electronics and supports Epson,
IBM, Lexmark and Verifone, among others.

And here's a company that specializes in network electronics:
Bizi, Billerica, MA (877) 438-2494
They repair equipment from Cisco, 3COM, Juniper, Bay/Nortel and
Cabletron.

There are dozens of companies which do maintenance/repair work for
major manufacturers. This is a case of industry terminology being
necessary to get the kind of Google search results needed. Searching
for electronics + refurbishers yields mostly resources for recycling
of equipment by consumers.

Instead, companies of this type are known as MROs (maintenance and
repair operations). Some companies specialize more in repair -- some
in refurbishment work. Usually refurb work is done on contract with a
specific original equipment manufacturer or OEM, with distribution
being tightly controlled by the OEM.

As others have noted, "B" goods or equipment that has not been run
through the complete manufacturing process again, cannot be sold as
"new" merchandise in the United States.
