I need some formula or software which quickly "smooths" an interest
rate yield curve. The usual process is via "cubic splines" but I just
need something which is logical and smooth. I will have rates for
1,2,3,5,7,10, and 20 (or 30) years, and want to know values for the
intervening numbers of years. It needs to be simple or direct enough
so that it doesn't take a finance or math or programming guru to use.

Have you tried this? It works with Excel 2003 --

Chart Wizard

I'm not looking for something to put a line through some points on a
graph. I need a specific formula or equation which provides the
values themselves using a smoothing function of some kind (e.g. cubic
spline). Thanks
