Question ID: 573000
I can suddenly no longer access my control panel, winfile, explorer
file or any file management program in Windows 98. Is Microsoft
sending me a message that I can no longer use 98? (although I have XP
on my partitioned disk. Can any one help me?

Hi gafro,

Some ideas.

1. Click Start / Run / type: sfc / OK
Scan for altered files. Start

2. Press WinKey+E (to access My Computer) or WinKey+Pause/Break (to
access System Properties)

3. Start / Find / Files or Folders / Name: control.exe / Find Now
Try clicking the control.exe file to open the Control Panel.

4. See if you can access anything in Safe Mode.

5. Restore your system to a previous date when things were working.

Good luck (you'd be surprised how many people are still using W98,
it's not a extinct yet),
