Hi bunisan,

I believe the movie you are thinking of is "The Man from Laramie".

From a review at Amazon:

"I got the shock of my life and I remember till today the scene where
he was pinned down by few and the barons son shoots him in the palm of
his gun hand. A very memorable movie which leaves the lasting
impression on the viewers..."

This movie is available at Amazon:

I couldn't recall the title of the film, but I vividly remembered the
scene as one of the more excruciating scenes in film history.

For the most gratifying scene of violence, check out the scene in
The Incident where Tony Musante gets his come-uppance. ; - )
