Snowboard,
I envy you. Few better places than New England in the fall. I'm not
exactly sure what you're looking for here but I will advise you on
your motor route from Kennebunkport to Vermont. Find Route #9 out of
Kennebunkport. Go west, of course. This is not an express route but is
a pretty good road. It will take you through Concord, NH then turns
southwest through Keene (a nice little town) and finally into Vermont.
You then have several choices. Take #9 into Brattleboro, VT, or turn
north on #30 and stay in Newfane or Townshend Vermont. Both are nice
little towns that would be perfect for a night at a bed and breakfast.
Brattleboro is a little bigger and more commercialized. It is also a
gorgeous town on the Connecticut river with beautiful MT. Wantastiquet
in the background (in full fall color). I don't know what you want to
do but Brattlebor has a lot of options for a small town. You'll have
plenty of options for bed and breakfasts in the area. The most deluxe
lodging would probably be the Four Columns Inn in Newfane. They've put
up Mick Jagger in the past. Below are links to the Four Columns Inn
and a B & B Directory for Vermont. Please, do not hesitate, to ask for
a clarification if you need additional info. To return to Boston take
#91 south out of Brattleboro. Go south into Mass. until you see signs
for route #2 east (before Greenfield, MA). This will provide a nice
scenic return to Boston. Don't forget to stop at Walden Pond just
outside of Concord, MA. Route #2 will take you right past Concord.
