Getting rate information for duties on imported goods is actually an
amazingly complex affair, and it depends entirely on the very specific
nature of the goods imported.
There is no generic duty for "leather goods". Instead, Customs
recognizes about a hundred different categories or so, such as:
42033000.--Belts and bandoliers with or without buckles, of leather or
of composition leather
So, if you're importing a buckled leather bandolier, I might be able
to get you a figure for the duty charges.
You might be best off giving Customs a call, and asking them your
question directly (and have a description of what you want to import
handy). Try these guys for starters:
Customs -- Los Angeles Port
301 E. Ocean Blvd.
Suite 1400
Long Beach, CA 90802
General Phone: (562) 366-5555
General Fax: (562) 628-7900
Let me know if this works out. If not, we'll see what else can be done.
