Question ID: 573830
How can I borrow, rent, or purchase a National Park Service ranger
uniform for a Halloween costume party? This is for a "come as you
always wanted to be" party and I always had a secret desire to be a
park ranger. I can get by with only the shirt so long as it has the
NPS patch (and preferably the badge). I have tried costume and
uniform shops locally and on the web without success. If a NPS ranger
uniform is not available I could get by with a National Forest Service
or State Park or State Forest Service ranger uniform.

I am a male and can wear medium or large shirts. My waist size is 34"
but I can use anything 30" and up if necessary.

I happen live in a National Park and I also happen to be in law
enforcement. I can tell you that you have quite a challenge on your
hands. Being Federal officers, NPS rangers' clothing and badges are
controlled items and not likley to be found for rent or purchase. You
may have to settle with a less than authentic alternative. I can help
you located a full Scout Master uniform for purchse if you'd like to
try and "create" a uniform. They are quite similar in design and you
can pick up a fake badge at just about any dollar store. Let me know
if you are interested in this as an answer.

Thanks for the clarification. I sure don't want to be arrested for
impersonating a park ranger. Yes, this will make the job challenging
if not impossible. I will pass on the Scout Master uniform. I was
hoping some theatre group might have such a costume sitting in its
costume vault.

My suggestion: find a place that does computer embroidery and have a
badge and/or hatband made with the text. Have to find appropriate
shirt, pants and hat.
