I'm in the process of putting together a contract to write a biography with a person. Typically what royalties are paid to biographers? |

Is it going to sell, or will it only end up being privately distributed? |

Is it a biography of a person who is well-known to the public? You may want to contact the Writers Guild of America (I think they may have a website) to ask them your question about royalties. Do you have an entertainment lawyer helping you draft the contract? 4KEITH (I'm NOT a GOOGLE Researcher) |

Yes, the person is historically well known. The Author's Guild won't give me membership because I'm a small publisher, but I won't be publishing this book. The contract's written. I just need guidance on this small piece of compensation information. That is, what are the typical royalty perameters for a writer who writes a biography? I looked in Writer's Market. They have a spreadsheet of compensation, but not what I'm looking for. |
