nelson-ga is correct. However, if a bunch of the inquiries are within a limited time frame (I'm not sure what that is) and relate to the same purchase (let's say you were shopping for a car and visited 4 dealers over a weekend...and each pulled your credit report), those are supposed to be read or counted as just one inquiry. So raw numbers may not tell the entire story. Second, you may have the opportunity to include an explanation on your credit report. That's certainly true if you've been denied credit; you should look into that possibility if there's an understandable (to the creditors) reason for the large number of inquiries. Third, if you're planning a major purchase in a month (as your question suggests), tell the lender up front about the large number of inquiries and explain why. Hope that helps. |
