Hello Carlmessenger,

Is there a specific version of Watcom / tools / interface you must support?

For example,
  http://www.openwatcom.org/product/features_content.html
(scroll down a little) describes the "Open Watcom" product which
supports remote debugging over
 - serial port
 - parallel port
 - TCP/IP
on ALL platforms including DOS.

Would that be a suitable solution or must you support a specific
version and/or interface?
Please clarify your situation so we can prepare a proper answer.

Thanks.

We are using Watcom version 11.0B.
Our IT department has not been able to get this to work under TCP/IP
newtork for any operating system. Does the current release version
1.3 remote debugger fix or address any of the issues we might be
experiencing?

Hello Carl,

It is hard to say without trying it. I don't have the personal
experience with the product. A quick look at the documentation at
  http://downloads.openwatcom.org/ftp/11.0c/docs/debuggeruserguide.pdf
(scroll down to page 109)
indicates that TCP as a remote transport method is only supported on
OS/2, Windows NT & 95, and QNX (not DOS). You should be able to use
NetBIOS if your machines are "close" to each other. So to your
original question, the answer is "you can't" unless you purchase some
extra equipment or change the protocol.

If you must use TCP/IP it should be feasible to set up remote
debugging on a "serial interface" using something like
  http://www.dcbnet.com/datasheet/ss1ds.html
(scroll down to the descriptions of "nailed up" connections)
where the two PC's connect by serial connection established across the
network using a device like this. I can certainly find you alternative
vendors if this approach is suitable.
