Would university residences legally be considered part of somebody's
rental history when filling out an application for an apartment?

Here is a blurb from a prospective apartment application, so you
understand the context in which i am asking the question:

==============================================

Application For Residential Tenancy

We collect information from you in several ways. Some personal
information is gathered when a prospective tenant signs our standard
tenant application for a residential or commercial tenancy agreement.
Tenants are required to provide credit, rental history, employment
information as well as other personal information to be used for
identification and qualification purposes. Other information such as
emergency contact information may be required in order to respond to
medical or other emergencies in connection with a tenant, unit or
suite. Also information relating to any vehicles owned by a tenant may
be collected to assist in the enforcement of any parking rules or
regulations.

We also collect information from any covenantor or guarantor of any
lease, including information relating to credit and employment
information, present and past living accommodation and other personal
information. In addition, personal information may be collected in an
application to assign or transfer a lease in respect of the
prospective assignee, including any and all personal information
referred to in the original application for tenancy.

The personal information collected is used to check prior rental
references from all previous landlords, conduct credit checks and to
confirm employment with your employer and salary, all of which
information is required to determine your suitability and
qualification as a tenant.

In most cases, we will ask you to specifically consent if we collect,
use or disclose your personal information other than as provided for
in our privacy policy as amended from time to time. Normally we would
ask for your consent in writing or orally. Sometimes your consent may
be implied through your conduct with us. In all cases where a tenant
application is submitted by you, your consent will be requested in the
application itself.

Could expertlaw-ga please handle this question?

I would pay more money to have this question answered, but I'm a poor
university student... but I need the answer badly.

I'd prefer not to list it. I did some policital activism at UVic and
I'd prefer to omit that listing from my apartment application. That is
the point of this question.

I'd prefer not to list it, but I'd like to do so legally. That is the
essential point of my question.

What university residences - on campus, owned by the university, no
rental contract? I doubt it.
IF you were living in off-campus, privately owned rooms, with a
private contract in your name, then I expect that that would be part
of your rental history.
On the other hand, if you could have been living on campus at that
time, ... well, who would know.

It's dorm living. I know it's not covered under the Residential
Tenancies Act... they ask for my complete rental history and I'm
wondering if it's necessary to include residences

You fill out an application form, then give them the money. The
application form is very superficial and just asks for student ID
numbers and things of the like. Then, the balance for the year of
housing shows up on a list of money that is owed from the university.

Unless you are in arrears, go ahead and list it. Can't do any harm.

Hi,
That was my point, if you could have lived in a dorm or at home or
privately without a contract, is there any reason for someone to doubt
it? You could have been sharing a flat rented by someone else.
