Hi ,

there is a local deity in "dakshina kannada", a southern region in
"karnataka" a state in south India. A deity here is called bhoota raja
( sometimes bhuta raja).http://www.dvaita.org/scholars/vadiraja/VaadiraajaT_3.html
has some information on him (search for Bhūta-rāja).

I need a picture/s of this deity for my research. Since i cant access
many websites through the office firewall , i would appreciate it if
the pic/s are emailed to me/my gmail acct.

Thank you for helping me!

Excellent sleuthing so far!

Ofcourse , the image of the actual idol is impossible to get -- this
is a certainity. What i am looking for is a depiction of bhUta rAja --
there are paintings which depict him as a mustached gentleman with
3or5 faces , with a fierce expression on his face, and carrying
various weapons. He is standing and is clothed with the traditional
"dhoti" below the waist and has ornaments adorning him. Apart from
this , i donot know any further details on his appearence.

thanks for the assistance thus far , i hope i have clarified my stance.

myoarin-ga -- the image you posted was of another diety "annapoorNa",
not of bhoota raja......if your intention was to check if i can get to
google images, yes i can get to google images -- but have not found
the image of bhoota raja in the net even after thorough searching ,
and thats what i am asking google answers. :-)

Hey,

I tried googling..but I need more info. Shri VadiRaja is very popular
but can you expand a little bit on Bhuta Raja?

Hey!,

I could get a couple of pics of the temples of Bhoota raja. I donot
know whether they are the correct ones. I'm still hunting for the pics
of him.

Interestingly the link that you pointed out states that:

"Sri Bhūta-rāja is said to serve Sri Vādirāja Tīrtha as a watchman,
among other things; he guards a corner of the DhavaLa-Ganga tank at
Sode. This corner is known as "Bhūtarājara-koNe" or "Bhūta-rāja's
corner" and one is not to venture into it. Doing so is punishable by
death, as many have discovered to their cost over hundreds of years.
While the water is seemingly calm, anyone who swims there is pulled
down by Bhūta-rāja and drowns. However, only a purposeful miscreant
can get there in the first place, since the steps lead from the
opposite side, and one can get to that side only by diving from a
height or swimming from the opposite side."

Now I haven't seen this place or anything but it sems that the deity
(actual idol) is not easily accessible and even if one can reach it, I
think the local people's beliefs (as per the excerpt above) would make
it a forbidden place to visit. (Please do correct me if I am
comprehending it wrongly)

So I don't think that anyone will be able to find pictures of the
deity or find a person who has seen the deity for that matter.
