I am posting this as a comment because I wasnt able to find all the information you requested. Perhaps another researcher will have better luck. In a recent Motorcycle Riders Foundation Newsletter dated July/August 2002: It is worse now, with new motorcycle sales having soared in the past few years (from some 300,000 new units sold in 1990 to 710,000 in 2000). http://www.mrf.org/reports/JulAug02web.pdf ATV unit sales during 2001 showed an 12.4% increase with total ATV sales exceeding 700,000 units as noted by ATV Magazine. This growth followed a 19.2% increase in 2000, the year in which total ATV sales surpassed total motorcycle sales for the first time. http://216.239.51.100/search?sourceid=navclient-menuext&q=cache:http%3A//biz.yahoo.com/bw/020430/302329_1.html |

The closest your gonna get (including the various manufactuers, AND atv's) will probably be found in the records of the insurers of such vechicles. Especially true since every dentist rides a Harley these days and you KNOW that they are going to insure them. And I figure that enough folks will insure the ATV's against theft that you can come up with a round number. Hope this helps. |
