Hello. I want to start a business. My idea is to import handicrafts, textiles etc from India and sell them to stores here, starting in California but then eventually across the USA. I have already formed an LLC, applied for a DBA, Reseller and Business Licenses, as well as State and Federal Tax IDs (whew). Do I also need an license to Import goods? How do I apply and to whom? What does it cost? How long would it take to get it? |

You do not need a license to import per se. But you will have to pay duty/tarriffs for the items leaving India and again for them entering the USA. http://web.ita.doc.gov/ticwebsite/apweb.nsf/795c3ca6e24078cd85256bb1006b330e/ac9408af8e85455185256a640070ff86!OpenDocument |
