A man named Mike (last name unknown) suicided after being prescribed
Paxil, an antidepressant. He was a graduate teaching assistant at New
Mexico State University, which has five branches: Las Cruces,
Alamagordo, Carlsbad, Dona Ana and Grants. I believe he died this
summer, possibly in July, surely in 2005. This summer, the FDA issued
a public health advisory about the risks of anti-depressants. Is
there a way to find Mike's obituary?

I found DOZENS of posts from someone claiming to be one of ?Mike?s?
parents. They all basically say the same thing. Here?s one example
dated 08/08/05:

HEALTH CENTRAL
http://www.healthcentral.com/peoplespharmacy/408/61148.html

Here are others (as I mentioned, they all seem to say the same thing,
which is not very revealing in terms of who ?Mike? was or where his
obituary might be found)

GOOGLE:

Because the post I found was dated August 8, 2005, I knew the death
could not be after that date. I then searched databases for New Mexico
obituaries for the names Michael and Mike for July 2005, coupled with
the keyword ?university? (which I feel confident is a word mentioned
at least once in his obituary since that?s where his vocation was
located.). I found two:

OBITS ARCHIVE
http://oa.newsbank.com/oa-search/we/Archives
SELECT THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO
SEARCH ?MICHAEL? ?JULY 2005? and ?UNIVERSITY?

Michael Christopher Henry died June 27, 2005. His obituary can be seen
here in its entirety.
ABQ JOURNAL

MICHAEL ANTHONY SEDILLO died June 5, 2005 and his brief obituary can be seen here:
FREE NEW MEXICAN
http://www.freenewmexican.com/news/29954.html

To see the archived obituaries of these men you can join OBITS
ARCHIVE, where members can log in and reach obituaries online. Whether
or not this will result in a more detailed obituary is not known (I am
not a member, so I don?t know).

I cannot say for certain that either one of these men are the ?Mike?
you are looking for, but they definitely dies in the period and area
you specified. Furthermore, at least one of them (Henry) if not both
of them were affiliated with the University of New Mexico.

If you can confirm that one of them is your man I?d appreciate if
you?d let me know.

Can't confirm this is the man. Maybe the death occurred before July,
and it took awhile to show up in that column that was repeatedly
found.
1-I wonder where the columnnists are based?
2-I wonder if seraching Jan. thru June 2005 would turn up this man who
was a teaching assistant as New Mexico State?

Searching the archive for "Michael", "2005" and "univeristy" for the
state of New Mexico shows about 15 different returns.

Using the same search strategy using "Mike" returns no results.

OBITS ARCHIVE

I have no way of confirming if any of these men are the one you are
looking for, or even if the blurbs about "Mike's suicide" as mentioned
in the articles is even true. How do you suggest we proceed from here?

If you would like me to claim the reward even though we have not
actually answered the question for certain, I can do it from my end.
Just let me know if that's what you'd like me to do.

While this syndicated column was published on August 8, 2005, there is
no indication in it whether the death took place in 2005.

The customer says the death CERTAINLY occured in 2005 regardless of
what the article "doesn't" say.
