QUESTION SUMMARY (I'm just trying to find out about possible problems
that would occur from installing 8 versions of Adobe CS1 onto 8
machines in a 60 computer network where some machines are already
running older versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, and also
Pagemaker) full question follows.

I am in my first year of teaching yearbook at a school that has around
60 computers on its network. I work in a room with 6 PCs. They are
currently running Adobe Pagemaker, and older versions of Photoshop,
and Illustrator. I have gotten donated to the school 3 copies of
Adobe's full creative suite (CS1), and 5 copies of InDesign (CS1
version). These products are sealed in their boxes, and so are legal
licensed copies that came straight from Adobe.

Here's were I get lost.

I understand single computers alright. I know nothing about networks.
The IT folks at my school say that there could be all sorts of trouble
if they were to put the 8 copies of InDesign onto the 6 computers I
have in my room, and onto 2 more in the lab.
They through out terms like "synchronize the platform we are
supporting" - they talk of building objects, and dealing with
environments. They claim that Pagemaker would have to be STRIPPED off
of EVERY computer in the network? (or they say it probably will).

None of this makes any sense to me. I run Pagemaker and InDesign at
home on one machine with no trouble. I would think Adobe has made the
two to go together.

Can someone out there please help, and either make it a little more
clear what all the difficulty would be with installing this software
on some of our PCs -- or convince me that it really shouldn't be such
an impossible task.

Thanks so much!!
