Greetings all!

I'm looking for a piece of software that can convert SWF files into
some other, more standard/readable, format. Prefereably this would be
a sequence of PNG, JPG, or GIF (animated or not). If software to do
this simply doesn't exist then I'll accept an output result in MPEG,
AVI, etc which I can then convert to an image sequence using NetPBM or
some similar package.

Here's the kicker: I need it to run in a Linux (if it's built for
Unix, but will compile on Linux, great!) server environment. So it
needs to run from a command line, on linux, without X installed. I've
been searching for awhile and have only been able to find stuff that
runs on Windows (eg: Magic Swf2Avi, SWF2Video, etc). I need something
that runs very much like these programs except on Linux. Magic Swf2Gif
(available here: http://www.effectmatrix.com/ ) is perfect, except
that it runs on Windows only and requires a GUI.

Free or pay? Naturally I would prefer free software, but if none
exists I'd certainly accept an answer that points me at a non-free
product that meets my needs.

It doesn't need to be fancy with a ton of options, it just needs to
output something that I can programatically manipulate, which I can't
do with SWF.

Thanks! :-)

Thanks for the pointer to swftools, but unfortunatly I had already
checked them out and they don't render swfs :-( I want to render
vector data, not extract bitmaps.

Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:
http://www.orneryboy.com/strips/strip190.swf needs to be converted
into a 75x75 pixel jpeg thumbnail for preview.

Search for rpm swftools and/or swfextract which is included in rpm.

swfextract does not convert, but rather extracts jpeg files within swf files.

I am not an expert on this, located this via google search, where you
can also find it.

rpm.pbone.net has a number of versions listed, but mostly for
Mandrake, and for altlinux. It is also listed in a search as tar.gz

I have a lot of experience with Flash and might be able to help you if
you tell me why you need to render vector data from my comics.

ROFL :-D Now THAT was unexpected...

I'll send an email to the address listed on your site and we can
discuss further - if it gets to the point where we have a solution we
can post it here :-)

If you look at my question clarification I noted that swftools doesn't
do what I need (I need to render vector data, not extract bitmap
images)...

Thanks though :-)
