Here are the closest watches I could find that fit your criteria:
http://www.watchmaven.com/
Click on Watches $500 to $1000 Scroll about halfway down to "Ebel
Voyager SS/SS Auto NIB". The only difference in specifications of this
watch and your criteria is the stainless band.
http://watches.co.uk/watch.php?id=watch&wid=2431S
Two differences: the gold case and a little over the price you specified.
This watch fits all your criteria, however, I haven't been able to
locate one for sale.

I'll keep looking and let you know of my progress.

rainbow-ga:
The Ebel model Model: 9124341_5135906 (located at
http://www.watchseller. com/ebvoyaut.html) most closely matches my
interest.
However, I explored this site further (watches $1000 to $2000) and
located Universal Geneve Polar Compax Automatic Chronometer with a
white dial that I like. We have all heard horror stories about buying
products over the internet. Do you have any background on this seller?
Product problem resolutions? Also, I am not familiar with this brand,
Universal Geneve. Any guidance on the reputation of their products? I
recal the Ebel brand changed hands a while back and believe the brand
does not enjoy the reputation is used to.
Appreciate the work you have done. Have you exhausted your resources?

Hi Mark,
The watch you like is indeed a very nice looking watch. You can read
more about this brand, including their history, at their website:
http://www.universal.ch/index/en/universal_index.html
Regarding the reputation of the Watchseller.com owners, Ed and David
Loebl, I prefer if you read for yourself this very interesting forum,
where users have bought from the above website and have expressed
their opinions. Some entries in the forum are written by Ed and David
Loebl.

In the meantime, if you would like, I can do some additional research
in the hopes the Universal Geneve Polar Compax Automatic Chronometer
is available for purchase elsewhere.
Best regards,
Rainbow

Mark,
I have located the Universal Geneve Polar Compax Automatic Chronometer
from a much more reliable source for $1,800. This company has been a
member of the BBB since 2000.

I researched the Universal Geneve line a little and they have a Gents
Aero Tri-Compax Chronometer that is similar, but with some nice
features. I have not had time to try to find a better price than the
$2800 indicated in the folowing website.
http://www.proworth.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7241
Seems line an enormous price difference for the two similar watches.
Can you find a more reasonable price? I think the brown crocodile
strap looks great with these models if one is available.
Appreciate your efforts!

Rainbow,
Can't justify the additional $1k for the model with the monphases.
This Polar-Compax Chronometer model looks great and I am ready to make
the purchase. (Am I correct that the brown leather strap is not
crocodile, just normal leather? Embossed?) I appreciate your locating
this watch at a more reliable supplier! Can you please send me the
vendors website?
This is my first time to use Google Answers. You have made it a
pleasure and I sincerely apreciate your help. Do I need to initiate
action for you to receive the payment from Google?
Thanks!

Hi markra,
First I would just like to say it's been a pleasure working with you
and welcome to Google Answers.
The website where the Universal Geneve Gents Polar-Compax Chronometer
is available for purchase is actually a site you mentioned in one of
your clarifications: ProWorth http://www.proworth.com/
The watch I described in above clarification is located here:
http://www.proworth.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7243
The same watch, but in black leather and white dial, is here:
http://www.proworth.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7244
Regarding my receiving payment, once I post the answer here in the
Answer Box, the credit card on file with Google Answers will be
charged at the end of the month.
I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, please
don't hesitate to ask before rating my answer.
All the best, and enjoy the watch!

Rainbow,
I attempted to purchase the watch from www.proworth.com only to find
out that they do not have it in stock, nor do they anticipate
restocking it. Are you aware of another dependable source?
