Question ID: 575593
Where can I buy 'steel cord cutter' (burn off) with a rechargeable
battery. It will be use in tire manufacturing. The size is not too big
(hand-held).

I have information from steelcordguy-ga's comment:
Steel cord for tire production is normally not cut, because it will
open and unraffle the cord! The cords are burned off, a single cord
(up to +/-18 filaments)can be "burned-off" with a hand-held battery
charged burner.A well-know supplier of this equipment is a german
supplier.

Thanks in advance

Hello ryanku-ga:

I'm afraid I haven't been able to find what you want.

The closest I could get is the "Fischer Steel cord cutter with
complete line - high angle stabalizer" sold by Soberay & Sons Ltd.:
http://www.soberayandsons.com/TBM.html

I e-mailed Soberay and they kindly checked the specs in your question,
and then informed me that unit is not a handheld (nor do they carry
any handheld steel cord cutters).

Is the Fischer cutter *close* to what you want? Are you sure there is
such a thing as a handheld cutter?

I even checked an international equipment buying/selling site and I
still couldn't find what you described.

Any additional leads or specs or clues you can provide may help me, or
one of my colleagues, find what you want.

Best Regards,

Hello nancylynn-ga,

I looked up that site, but unfortunately they have no cutter like I
need. I also sure this is handheld.

The other clue is this product had been used by one of the
employees/engineers in Bekaert (a Belgian company). I?ve searched the
site (www.bekaert.com), but I didn?t found it (possibly they never
produced it).

I already found the similiar product from Eraser. They call 'CCB100
Battery Operated Cable Cutter', item number ER0601
(www.eraser.com/catalog.cgi?mode=details&product_id=1640). It's
handheld & rechargeable battery operated, but unfortunately it won't
cut steel nor 'burned off'.

Also, I found Schleuniger's product
(www.schleuniger-na.com/products/wirecutting.htm). It cut steel, but
not handheld nor battery operated.

The others are from HSGM's product (www.hsgm.com/hsgm/hsgm46.htm,
www.hsgm.com/hsgm/hsgm02.htm, www.hsgm.com/hsgm/hsgm61.htm). It use
heat to cut, but won't cut steel and don't use rechargeable battery.

These are the sites that I've been gone, but they don't have either:
www.bosstoolsupply.com
www.allprotools.com
www.kimcousa.com
www.morsecuttingtools.com
www.acetool.com
www.roland-electronic.com

These are the sites that I send the enquiry, but they don't reply yet:
tooling.tycoelectronics.com
www.burnstools.com
www.empiretool.com
www.edcotoolsupply.com
www.pts-tools.com (email response 'Where are you located?', not further reply yet)

Thanks for the efforts.

Best Regards,
ryanku-ga

Thanks for getting back to me.

I'll try looking around again, but frankly, I'm not too optimistic
that I can find what you want. I haven't been able to find any really
promising leads.

I don't think I can find a cutter that meets those exact specs, but I
certainly hope one of my fellow researchers can.

Hello steelcordguy-ga,

It's great to hear from you again, at last :).
I've send email to Strecker GmbH, I hope they have this product. I'll
search the Shlatter company too.
If I found this product, I need to give you some 'thank you'. So I
keep my finger crossed.

Thank you again steelcordguy, you're the guy!
