Looking for an online backup solution for my Windows XP laptop.
Solution (imagine this would be a combination of hardware with an
online storage service) must:

- have good reviews from independent sources
- monitor your designated folders for changes, and backup changed/new
files in the background as you work
- also allow a one-time initial backup of your designated folders

All the solutions I can find boast about "scheduled automatic"
backups. I don't want that, because I don't know when my laptop is
going to be sitting online unused. I want something that backs me up
as I go along, so I never need to think about it.

Is there an absolute need for online back-up?  Your needs could more
easily be served using hardware/software.  If so, an online solution
could be obtained via FTP.  Check out the following link:

You may be able to achieve what you want with the FTP plugin.  Their
are any number of service to rent the needed FTP space.
