If i own a domain name and it still has several years left on it before
it needs to be renewed - what happens to it if I cancel it? Can
someone else buy it? OR is it held in limbo by icann unusable ? OR
something else? thaks!

I am specifically interested in knowing if it goes into limbo for the
remaining time of the scheduled renewal period. OR if after it is
cancelled...it becomes free for sale to the public.

For example.....if I renew it today until 2007 then cancel (not
transfer) it tomorrow......does it become available after a few months
OR is it held until 2007 (by icann) and then in 2007 gets released?

thanks!

if u dont renewed ur domain, it can be sold for anyone, but hav a time
(lock-time) to do this, i think, about 30days about the expired time.
