Question ID: 576542
I'm from India came here on F1 and now working on H1 B visa, i'm
thinking of going to a US consulate in Mexico for my H1B visa
stamping, can anyone tell me what the chances are for visa refusal
based on just the DUI conviction?

I realized all aliens attending a visa interview will be searched thru
NCIC database which i think will show my DUI conviction?

I'm convicted for first offense DUI in California in Jan 04. paid the
fines, took classes and license suspension for 90 days, now all
that is remaining on my conviction to fullfill is the 3 yr
unsupervised probation.

If you need any further information about my situation will provide immediately.

My main concern does having a first offense DUI come up as hit with
respect to security risk when the US Consulate runs the check.

We have plenty of crazy US-born citizens on the road. We don't need
to import drunk drivers.

Raja,

I think it would be wise to call the mexican consulate directly and
explain the problem. They would provide you a remedy. Else you can
contact the US embassy and get clarifications. Its better you do this
instead of taking a risk.

Nelson, I guess in the future, with the high rate of US Citizens
getting a DUI, its better to outsource it to some other country.
Atleast people would be SAFE!
