Where can I find an online graph or chart that shows Japan's economic success story from approx. 1950 to 1990? I need something showing its increasing GDP, with "time" on one of the axes of the graph (eg. years) and GDP or national income or something on the other axis. I'd like it to be a relatively reputable source too please. Thanks. |

Tom2000 -- The Statistics Bureau and Statistical Research & Training Institute, part of the Japanese government's Ministry of Internal Affairs & Communications, publishes historical economic statistics. The GDP data on the page linked below goes to 1955 in chart 3-7, "Gross Domestic Product and Expenditure Account" -- Japan Statistics Bureau "Historial Statistics of Japan" http://www.stat.go.jp/english/data/chouki/03.htm It shows the following growth (in billions of yen): 1955: 8,370Y 1960: 16,010Y 1970: 73,345Y 1980: 240,176Y 1990: 430,040Y 1998: 498,499Y Google search strategy: Japan historical GDP Best regards, Omnivorous-GA |
