Hello Mattg123, If you purchase a laptop with Windows XP, you do not *need* a Korean made laptop to send e-mails in the Korean language. Windows XP comes with what is needed to write in Korean. However, the font is not installed. You will need to install the font. "Users of English versions of Windows 2000 and Windows XP do not need to download the IME - the IME and the East Asian fonts are provided as standard as part of these operating systems. They are however not installed by default. Here are instructions for installing the IME under Windows 2000/XP." http://www.declan-software.com/korean_ime/korean_ime.htm#what You can find how to install the Korean font here: http://www.declan-software.com/korean_ime/korean_ime.htm#XP Here is further information: "The Korean Language Pack is designed to work with the Office XP Tool: Global IME (Korean) download and is only required if you are not running Microsoft Windows® 2000 AND you are not running a Korean language version of the operating system. You do not need to download the Korean Language Pack if any of the following are true: * you are running Windows 2000 * you are running a Korean language version of the operating system * you are not installing the Global IME (Korean) tool" http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9cfa419f-f25d-4f9c-b1dc-3ef7c4f1be91&displaylang=en I have a client whose Korean daughter-in-law installed the MS Korean Pack on Windows ME and successfully uses e-mail in Korea, with no additional software, on an English version Windows PC. Please read all the information and download and install the correct software for your laptop's version of Windows. Regards, Crabcakes Search Terms Microsoft + Korean language |
