I want to find out what VERSION NUMBER of Macromedia FLASH PLAYER is
installed on my IBM Windows XP Service Pack 2 computer. Nowhere in
Internet Explorer 6.0 or on the Macromedia web pages can I find out
how to do this. It looks as though either by accident or on purpose
this information is being kept secret from the consumer. What I wish
to obtain from you is either (Item 1) a means to see what version of
macromedia Flash Player is on my computer, or (Item 2) (a) proof that
Item 1 is impossible, (b) an explanation from Macromedia of why it is
impossible, and (c) a contact list of other persons and organizations
who are outraged by that impossibility.

Hi miacid,

Here you go -

Version test for Macromedia Flash Player
"The Macromedia Flash movie below displays the specific version of the
Macromedia Flash Player currently installed and active in your
browser. For Macromedia Flash Player 6 or higher it also tests to see
if the debug or shipping version of the Macromedia Flash Player is
installed."
"Note: This movie will display the version number only for Macromedia
Flash Players 4,0,12,0 and later"

If this little Flash movie doesn't work for you or if you have any
questions, please post a clarification request and wait for me to
respond before closing/rating my answer.

Thank you,
hummer

Can't you also right click on any flash video and select "About..."?

It leads you to this page
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ which tells you your
version.

Thank you for your comment, brianhoward, and for taking the time to
post it. Actually, just going to the URL you posted gives you your

give some additional information about the various versions. Best
regards, hummer
