I have a top of the line, very heavy and bulky HDTV TV, with 3 years remaining on a transferable in home Sears service contract, that I would like to donate to and have picked up by a local/regional charity. However I live on the second floor and this requires carrying the item down one flight of outside stairs. I have called some 4-5 charities that accept such donations, including the Salvation Army, but none will agree tp pick it up, stating that their insurance does not cover carrying large, heavy items down a flight of stairs. I would like to avoid paying a moving company to deliver the item to a tax deductable charity. Can someone give me the name and contact information of a charity that will pick this up? I live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. |

Wow that's a lucky person whoever receives that. Gifts For Sight should take it themselves, http://www.giftsforsight.org/, they run a free nationwide pick-up. Good luck! |

Their Web site does not include a phone number (or address for that matter), which not only makes the charity, to my mind, suspect but does not allow me to confirm they will pick up large, heavy items. |
