When one types in www.wkcr.org or http://www.wkcr.org in his address
bar, his browser takes him to the website for radio station WKCR-FM in
New York. However, when someone types wkcr.org or http://wkcr.org into
the address bar, a pop-up will come up in addition to the webpage. Why
does this happen? and as the owner of the webpage, how can I fix it so
that the pop-up does not come up? The webpage is stored on a
noncommercial server where there are no pop-ups. I am speculating that
this might have something to do with the domain name host.

An answered question will include specific steps to get rid of the
pop-up permenently. If you need some details, ask and I may be able to
provide them. Many are available by doing a WHOIS search.

niskayuna_man,

The pop-up seems to be coming from isg28.casalemedia.com, Casale Media
is an advertisement program. A look at the source code for the page
shows that there is indeed code embedded there for pop-ups:

<frame name="pop" src="http://www.registrarads.com/pop/pop.html" marginheight=1>

registrarads.com tells me that the place you registered the domain at
has these ads automatically inserted into the web pages. You are
correct that it is the domain name registrar that is causing these
pop-ups.

Regards,
Brian Howard
