Hi kremster,

I believe the magician you are thinking of is Rudy Coby.

"To date, Rudy has performed in New York, Hollywood, Paris, Tokyo,
Germany, London, Holland and Hong Kong?not to mention everywhere
in-between. Millions of people have seen Rudy?s show both live and on
international television. His credits include MTV?s Half Hour Comedy
Hour, Disney?s All Star Circus, the World?s Greatest Magicians at the
Magic Castle, and, most recently, the prime time series Magic Comedy
Show which he hosted and starred in for Thames Television in London.

Rudy?s fresh approach and universal appeal have earned extended
performances at casinos in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. He has appeared
so often at Trump?s Castle in Atlantic City that he considers it a
second home. His new wave style is so contemporary that he regularly
headlines at the famed Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris; yet his
showmanship is so sophisticated that he can please even the most
demanding of audiences? as witnessed by his Command Performance for
the Royal Family in Monte Carlo.

Rudy still possesses the imaginative outlook of a wide-eyed child.
Four legs, rubber arms and a shadow with a mind of its own are his
trademarks. Flying chains, exploding suitcases and beautiful robot
assistants are the highlights of his show..."

"Maybe Rudy Coby's parents shouldn't have allowed him to play near the
nuclear power plant when he was a kid. Too late now! Rudy Coby: The
Coolest Magician On Earth premiered on Fox Television last spring, and
the viewers who were fooled the most were those who tuned in expecting
a 'normal' magic show.

Exploding on stage - literally, with the help of a few sticks of
dynamite - Rudy makes it clear that he isn't a typical tuxedo-clad
magician. Instead, he plays a character named Labman - a scientific
super-hero who claims to be a strange invader from this very planet."

"...The wrestlers each have their own entrance music, their own
distinctive costumes, and their own "finishing moves" that no other
wrestler would claim as their own. Magicians all dress the same, use
each others music, and even do the same tricks whether it's
spongeballs and the cigarette through quarter, or Origami and
Interlude. The idea is to make yourself stand out from the other
characters. People hear the music and they instantly know who's about
to come on. Play 'Peter Gunn' and we think of Rudy Coby..."
