I am a large person with several children, a dog and lots of stuff to
haul. My current minivan is old and dying and I need a new one. But
I need one with a lot of room in the drivers seat. I am not only a
large person (6'1", 350 lbs but I also have a condition called
lymphodema that causes my abdoment to swell up like I was carrying a
full basketball on it or was nine months pregnant. So I need room.
The Mercury Voyager 93 I was driving was tight but I could just
squeeze in. Is there a list somewhere of the rroomiest driver's seats
for large people? I tried a 2004 Odyssey and I could not fit it at
all. I do not want to get a large van if I can help it because of the
price of gas (like a suburban etc. but I am worried that I might have
to get one. I can't afford a brand new mini van but a nearly new one
is ok). Is there a list or does someone have personal knowledge of
the best minivans for drivers space?

A friend of mine who is over six feet in height and who weighs about
400 pounds recently bought a Toyota Sienna, and is very pleased with
it.

I have a co-worker whose husband is 6'10. They had a Dodge which was
quite uncomfortable for him. They bought the Siena because it gave
him the most room and remained happy with this choice.

Thanks to the people who left a comment on the Sienna (as no one is
taking my question!)...did you know which model of the Toyota Sienna
your friend or co-worker bought and which year? I had this stereotype
idea that Toyotas would be smaller because they were from Japan. I'll
try one. Thanks again. mlc-ga
