I am considering training for a commerical helicopter license in the USA. I am looking for the top 5 helicopter training schools in the USA. The top 5 rating should be done on the quality of the education, cost of the program, and the number of placements after gradation. I would also like to know the top 5 commerical helicopter's in the USA in terms of sales. The final question is the likelihood of and over 50 male with a commerical helicopter license finding employment. I know this will not be an easy search so the best answer will receive a tip larger than the set price. Thank you. |

Dear Slowhand, I know for a fact that one of our Researchers is a pilot and I hope that this Researcher would be able to help you. However, be perpared : one of the possible problems could be that you ask two separate questions here - one about the top schools, and the other about your chances of finding job later. It is possible that a Researcher would have an answer for one, but not for the other question. I suggest - if your question is not answered within a reasonable period - that you'll repost it as two separate questions. |

Thank you very much for the tips. I am new to this, and I will certainly take your advise about posting two separt questions if I do not get an answer soon. |

Actually, this is three separate questions, i.e. 1) top five schools; 2) top five helicopters; and 3) job outlook for older pilots. At this question price, that works out to $20 for each question, each of which is likely to require a considerable amount of time and effort to address adequately. Also, many Researchers are reluctant to put in a significant amount of time and effort on the promise of a tip, having learned the hard way that promised tips don't always materialize. Might be a good idea to look around at similar questions or just reread the guidelines to get a better feel for how to phrase and price a question for maximum return. Greetings, It seems like the last question about employment is really the important one. If you are very unlikely to get hired, are you still interested in the other questions? Here is one school's website that answers lots of questions, interestingly, under "employment" there is nothing. http://www.flymidwest.com/Faq.html Another factor is that one must not only have a license but for most jobs there is a request for so many hours of flying time, sometimes with finer definition of type of heli and night experience. 1000 hrs is flying 5 hrs/day for 200 days. Here is a site that has some jobs offered so you can see the expectations: http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=+Helicopter+Pilot&l=Texas&sort=date&rb=1 Good luck, Myoarin |
