I am a partner in an LLC, but have not been active lately. I just recieved my K-1 and it attributes about $3k of income to me, but I have recieved no distribution from the corporation. I have ammended my return to pay the 1k or so in taxes, but my partners say there is no money to distribute to me because all of the capital accounts are negative. Is it possible for them to attribute 3k to me without giving me any money? I suspect I need a professional to look at the books and to know what questions to ask. What kind of professional can help me and where can I find one? Does it seem fishy or even possible that I would not get the money? Am I missing something that would allow me to avoid paying the tax, like past losses? |
