What is Ocean Freight from Hong Kong to the Port of Baltimore currently running as a percentage? I just bought $15,000 worth of lightweight satin items for my wholesale distribution company on the East Coast. The importer I used, who is paying for the freight, is charging me $25,000. How much was the freight? Is it 40% (or $6,000) or more? Less? I need to know hom much the importer made off of me. |

My wife is Hong Kong Chinese, and worked as a shipping clerk in Hong Kong for 12 years. She says that for a 20-foot container, the standard freight charge would be about $1,300-$1,500 (depending on routing), plus about $300-$400 per shipment for fuel charges, plus tugboat charges (local for Port of Baltimore), as well as Terminal Handling Charges. She also mentioned taxes/duties....don't know if these are applicable or not. So....add all those together and see what you get. Hope this helps. |
