My brother-in-law is a Philippine citizen, living in the Philippines and he is in an advanced stage of Parkinsons. Doctors have said he is an excellent cantidate for a DBS operation (deep brain stimulation). It can release him from continued pain and to a large degree, restore mobility. The problem is that he and his wife are poor, very poor. The operation cost $40,000US This is a fortune to a Philippino. What institutions exist (in America or worldwide) that could be approached to pay for all or a part of this operation but not require him to travel to a different country as getting a visa would be very difficult. His wife has put together documentation of his condition including papers from the doctor. The pictures alone will make you want to cry. Any and all help is appreciated. We are desparate. | |

Hi RGharrison, I'm in the Philippines. Has your brother tried asking help from PCSO (Philippine Charity and Sweepstakes Office)? Aside from that government agency, there are some charitable organizations he might approach. I'm not familiar with most of them, so I'll if I can bring up some more. |
