I live near Cresskill,NJ. I have been offered a position in Goleta, California. Now I have special skills. The position is of R&D Image processing engineer and I have 2 yrs of experience in this industry. Also I have a Bachelors in Electrical engineering, a M.S degree in Electrical engg. and another M.S degree in Biomedical Engg. With this specific background can you help me estimate my expected salary in goleta. Please factor in my specialized background as well as the cost of living difference between the two places. Also if you arrive with a yearly salary please break the salary down to biweekly payment amount after tax and other deductions. Basically the tax would be CA tax and Federal and social security and medicare. I am single and would claim almost no exemptions. Thanks G | |

I already know the cost of living factor. But also want to factor in my qualifications and my experience and how that will leverage my expected salary. Thanks anyways Gaurav |

Your expected salary is what you have been offered. Some employers are impressed by paper qualifications, generally in my opinion those employers are not the best sort of people to work for. Sadly academia and the real world exist in totally different dimensions. In moderately high tech areas it is not unusual for someone with no paper qualifications to be a highly paid guru - practical experience and innate ability is what really counts. It sounds as if you are two years in to work, pretty much the time when one starts learning how the world really works. |
