Just curious: if you don't have a credit card, how were you able to post this question? |

I have a credit card, but it's a Swiss card. If I want to buy videos in new iTunes store, I need an US card... |

You don't necessarily have to have a US credit card. If you are currently in the US, you can always open a bank account that offers a debit card, and pay with it. Otherwise, if you really want a credit card, then you would first have to get a Social Security Number, but in that case, you need to have a job offer in the US and then go to the Social security office to get your social security number. Once you have this number, you can apply for a credit card, and you might be able to get one with a small credit, since you have no credit history, regardless of your swiss card. |

having worked in the credit card industry, you're question seems quite odd. credit cards work on a network (like Visa or MasterCard) and are accepted everywhere those cards are accepted. regardless of who the issuer is (bank). are you sure your credit card is a credit card and not a debit card? other comments are correct - to get a US credit card, you need to be a US resident. one way around this is to buy a pre-paid credit card or gift card. all credit card networks sell these - here is visa's site: http://www.visabuxx.com/ you basically put money on these card and then spend the money. there are transaction fees, but hey, nothing in life is free. hope this helps. |

HI chicagobrain-ga, the problem is that many US on line shops recognize that the card has not issued in US (the first digits of American Express are used for this purpose). I have Visa, Amex and Mastercard: none of them works with US shops. Probably the idea of pre payd card is the best... I'll try to investigate in this direction. Thanks to everybody |

Quite right, Rrsrr, I have the same problem. The websites ask for a the US billing address, or more sophisticated ones like GA ask just for the billing address. I have a card linked to Bank One through my US brokerage account, but neither I nor the broker have been able to figure out how what the billing address is that satisfies the request. So - to Pink's original comment - I am using another card here that has my address home for billing. |

I live in Asia and also have the same problem. One way I got around this was using a Paypal account. It works on sites that accept Paypal. Other sites which check your ip address before checkout is another problem. One way is to use a dial up provider based in the US. Hope this helps. Best Credit Card Application |

You don't need a SSN for a US shipping address. Simply register with www.myus.com - and they will give you the address you desire. (Not free). |
