Hello,
I have a Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone Edition cellphone (i-Mate Jasjar)
and a Windows XP desktop PC.
On my desktop PC I use Outlook and the excellent WebSite Watcher (see
www.website-watcher.com) to monitor web sites.
In Outlook, I use the Rules to notify me when important/urgent emails
arrives to my mailbox.
In WebSite Watcher, I use the bookmark Actions to notify me when
important/urgent webpages are updated.
My desktop PC is always on with an ADSL flat rate.
My cellphone is always with me and I've an 1GB/month flat GPRS+UMTS
rate for my cellphone and a web service to send from the web up to 30
SMS/day for free to my cellnumber.
THE QUESTION IS:
what's the best SOLUTION to receive these desktop PC notifications
immediately on my cellphone, free of charge, and possibly with much
text attached (ex. the Outlook email and the WebSite Watcher web
page)?
For example.. I'm thinking on leaving my cellphone Internet
(GPRS/UMTS) connection always-on all day long with a (Windows Mobile
5.0 compatible) application that uses some sort of "push" technology
to efficiently - mostly for speed and battery consumption - receive
the notifications from Internet.
A sort of free and extended alternative to SMS..
Outlook rules support many notification methods, like email forwarding
or running of an EXE program.
WebSite Watcher also supports notifications, for example, by "run
program" that run an EXE passing a specified parameter to it, or by
"Send EMail" that works by sending an email with the updated webpage
attached and an automatic or manually specified subject.
I hope you can help me to find the best solution.
