We were the victims of a hit and run with no injuries but minor physical damage to our vehicle. We wrote down the lisence plate number of the vehicle that caused the accident. It happened on an interstate highway while on vacation and the local police department wouldn't help. How do we find the owner of the vehicle? | |

There are various agencies on-line where you can search for info like this. Look up on google 'private detective' and you will find these. For about $25 you can get lifetime access to all sorts of useful info that can help you track down and investigate people and things. |

I find it ratehr difficult to believe that the local police refused to try to track down a hit-and-run when provided with a license plate number. I expect they would refuse to so state in writing. I would very much complain to the state's Attorney General formally. However, your insurance company should be able to help in this situation and will be very glad to find the miscreant. give them the information with the police report and your claim. |

what you need to do is contact the auto registration office. Give them the license plate number that you have, sign a waiver that basically says you are not a stalker etc. then for a fee of less than five dollars they will give you a print out of the information you need ! As long it is not in California...... |
