preacherman...
Well, some things have changed on the website I referred
to in my comment. I will elaborate.
In my first search, below, which yielded only 13 unique links
for "email list" "by denomination", I found this link:
http://list-news.com/articles/01june/20010615.html
which describes the Crosswalk christian website:
"Crosswalk Launches Direct-Email Division"
"[June 15, 2001 - 3:00pm CST] Crosswalk (Nasdaq:AMEN) a
Christian Web-based retail company, announced Thursday
it has launched a new direct-email division. The
family-focused company has more than 750,000 registered
users and 32,000 opt-in subscribers who've agreed to
receive promotional messages. Advertising rates will
begin at $500 per thousand impressions."
"The most unique part about Crosswalk's demographics
is it allows advertisers to target readers by
denomination or church position as well as traditional
targeting by gender, age, income and location. While
80 percent of Crosswalk's members prefer HTML,
advertisers can choose to send text or HTML messages."
"'Providing direct email services to the Christian
community requires a substantial audience, in which
Crosswalk.com has a unique and proven leadership
position,' said Scott Fehrenbacher, Crosswalk.com
president and CEO. "This new business also fulfills
the company's commitment to develop effective,
creative ways for our advertisers to reach our
audience in a way that is mutually beneficial
to both parties. This product does that. Users
get the ads they want. Advertisers get great
results."
"'Our research has not revealed anyone else offering
direct email targeted to a Christian audience.
There are a few small lists out there, but they
lack the demographic data unique to the Christian
community. In some cases, they do not offer
demographic targeting at all,' said Lori Smith,
director of email publishing for Crosswalk."
"'With the direct-email advertising tool, we expect
to attract clients who are seeking a revolutionary
mode of directly reaching family-friendly
consumers," said Joe Forche, director of advertising
for Crosswalk. "This is surgically targeted
advertising, more immediate and less expensive
than traditional direct mail and offering a
direct return on the advertisers' investment.'"
As you can see in the second paragraph, their
advertising DOES allow for targeting denominations:
"...it allows advertisers to target readers by
denomination or church position..."
I then went to www.crosswalk.com and was able to locate
a page where advertising in the newsletters is discussed.
That page used to be here:
http://www.crosswalk.com/partner/Article_Display_Page/0,,PTID79129|CHID201550|CIID529654,00.html
but if you click on it now, you'll get a 404 "not found"
error, indicating they are revamping their site. You can
see the original content, however. I did a search on Google,
and located their cached copy of the page, before it was revised:
