We are trying to find the exact address and location of the house shown in the opening sequence of the sitcom "Full House". In the show the address is 1882 Gerard Street, but this is a fictitious address. We are visiting S.F. and want to see the "real" house. Please help. |

Dear drt123-ga; I'm afraid you may be in for a disappointment. As you said, 1882 Gerard Street is indeed a fictitious address. According to this post in the forum at TV.com however, the actual address for the exterior row of homes depicted on ?Full House? is 1892 Steiner, Street in San Francisco. TV.COM http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:pud8kRfG8MoJ:forums.tv.com/show_messages.php%3Fboard%3D920%26topic%3D52729%26page%3D1+%22full+house%22+%22real+house%22+%221882+Gerard+%22&hl=en If you are familiar with San Francisco this is a group of typical San Franciscan home known to some as ?The Painted Ladies? in an area some people call ?Postcard Row? (because the homes have graced postcards for years) and they are frequently seen in television shows and movies. The house shown in the show ?Party of Five? and house in the movie ?Mrs. Doubtfire? are also located among them there. The backdrop in the Full House opening segment is Alamo Square. Steiner Street is between Grove Street and Hayes Street and runs parallel with Fillmore. It seems the red door isn?t there as others, like you, have looked for it expecting to find it (and did not). Perhaps it was changed over time to prevent fans and curiosity seekers from knocking on it, who knows? Here?s something I think you will enjoy. Someone has made it a hobby to collect all the screen captures from the opening segment of Full House and then travel around San Francisco and snap recent photographs of all the same places. Enjoy.
