3-4 months ago I submitted my site for inclusion on DMOZ.org but have
not had it added. Is there anything I can do to see whether it has
been considered or not? I suspect that I may have been banned from
DMOZ listings because I have submitted it on many occasions instead of
doing it only once.

I suppose what I am asking here is a) has my site Classics Direct,
http://www.classicsdirect.com.au been considered by a DMOZ editor and
deemed to be in-appropriate for DMOZ, and b) what can I do to get
included?

There is no answer at this time.

I am not sure if this is the reason. DMOZ is notoriously slow.

They're about worthless. I think that small children using crayons
coloring on a dumpster can get more done than the DMOZ people. They're
not just slow. They operate on a geological time scale.

DMOZ has had some corruption issues:

My experience with DMOZ - an email is dispatched as soon as an editor
evaluates the site, with suggestions for submission if you are denied.

If admitted you also get an email indicated submission.

My site was included about 3 years ago (can't recall exact date) but
it did take a few months.

Within the last 5 months I was asked by a client to help submit a site
of theirs. I did so and an email was sent shortly from the editor who
reviewed my client's site explaining suggestions on how to be
included.

You can try sending a message to the editor of the category by going
to the profile of the editor to remind him/her about your inclusion
application. If you have already tried that, then the last resort is
to send message to the one-level higher editor of the category where
you wish to add your site. Reasons for not being listed are that
either the editor who is responsible for that category does not update
the category or he/she feels that your site is not relevant to that
category.

In the past I have been editor of some categories of dmoz, and I used
to get a plethora of add-requests, most of which were irrelevant.
Sometimes, I also missed genuine enteries because I rarely used to
check the email that I had specified for add-request, so I opted out
from those categories. I guess this is the main reason with most dmoz
categories which are not updated frequently.

My practical suggestion is that you get your site listed in some other
category, and when you are added you can modify the category since I
believe that people usually add their site to dmoz to get indexed in
multiple search engines, which integrate dmoz directory in their
listings.

Hope that helps.
