My company makes us use Cisco VPN when connecting from outside the
office. I'd like to get the software on my router at home so that I
dont have to open the VPN client and sign in every time i use my
computer at home. Any ideas?

bigbadbk-ga,

This is somewhat simple, to a point. It?s basically a three step process:

#1) You need permission to do this from you IT department (which they
will most likely say no, due to security measures).

#2) You would need a Cisco compatible VPN-Endpoint router. A cost
effective router would be the Linksys BEFSX41
(http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=US%2FLayout&packedargs=c%3DL_Product_C2%26cid%3D1115416832406&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper).
This router not only functions as a VPN Endpoint, but Cisco owns
Linksys which helps with compatibility.

#3) Your IT Dept would have to configure it. There are multiple
settings and passwords that will need configured so your router will
communicate properly with the office. If you have a good IT
department, they will not give you this information and will request
that you bring in the router so they can configure it.

Good luck

The Cisco VPN client will not work with the Linksys routers.

Your best bet is to use the WRV54G. It is a wireless router + uses
the Intel XScale chip & crypto engine.

The WRV54G allows for VERY easy user creation and does not require an
IT department to install. It leverages the Windows based s/w
installed.

Another nice note....the VPN will work easily at whatever linespeed
your broadband links work.
