How can I contact Father John Doherty who was in New York on September
11th 2001. There was an article printed about how he was buried
underneath the ash but dug his way out. Is there a photograph of
Father John Doherty from this article that you have already researched
?

Hi daisymay-ga,

Unfortunately Google Answers policy restricts researchers from
providing personal information of any kind. However, if there is a
publicly available photo, would this suffice as an answer?

Thanks,

From a Pulitzer Prize-winning article published in the Wall Street
Journal's issue of 9/12/2001:

Father John Doherty, a Roman Catholic priest, was on the street not
far from the Marriott Hotel adjacent to the World Trade Center. "I was
buried and dug my way out," he said, speaking on a stretcher in
Battery Park City a few blocks south of the ruins. He paused to spit,
and out came a wet, gray wad of ash. In the pitch dark of the smoke,
he said, he made it to safety only by following a guard rail that runs
along the riverside. "It's only the finger of God that saved me," he
said.

I have not located any photographs of Father John Doherty, nor any
other references other than reprints of the Wall Street Journal story
linked above.
