There is a map for London that acts like maps.google.com but allows
you to find the FASTEST point-to-point travel, including walking or
driving. I used it in May '05 and it was terrific.

The display layout seemed very similar to the turn-by-turn icons in mapquest.

Could it be Mapminder?

Thanks, but it is not mapminder. I looked at that site, which is
interesting, but doesn't say "take these turns to Victoria Station,
get on the tube to Tower Station, and then walk these turns to address
'x'". Thanks for your suggestion, tho!
