(I posted this question to Food and Cooking, with no luck. Any help?...)
I'm looking for 2 or 3 (or even 1 or 2!) differenct models of kitchen
prep sink, 12"wide or narrower. (The cabinet beneath the countertop
is only 12" wide--hence the need for a 12" or narrower sink.)
The sink's drain has to accommodate a garbage disposal, which I
believe all prep sinks do anyway.
The only other requirement is that the sink must be a "surface mount" model
rather than an "undermount" model. (The countertop is made of wood,
and is subject to expansion and contraction--thus is not suitable for
an "undermount"
model.) Ideally the sink's rim will be as narrow as possible, for
aesthetic reasons.
The sink can be round, square or rectangular (though ideally, round).
I'd like it as deep as possible, and preferably of stainless steel
rather than brass or copper. At this point, though, I can't be too
choosy.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello sdchap-ga,

I hear your desperation. This seems to be a tough quest. Have you
checked the catalogs offered at HomePortfolio? They have hundreds of
choices and some of the manufacturers say they will make custom sizes.
Here are some sinks that might be OK but I'm not sure about the
terminology for "surface mount" for some of them.

I found one at a local kitchen and bathroom supply house! It took my
sitting at their location for an hour, paging through a bunch of
catalogues, but voila... there it was. The brand, in case anyone is
interested, is "InHouse".

Try looking at bar sinks. Go to a place where you can browse catalogs
and order what you want. You can see all the specs in the catalog. I
think a bar sink is what you need.
