Looking for the answer to this riddle. I suspect it may have been

I suspect it is a variation on the rich/poor riddle.

Nothing/Knotting (phonetically "No T'ing")

- A farmer makes nothing, as they grow things instead.
- A carpenter does not need knotting (no t'ing).
- Poor people hate (having) nothing.
